Liverpool MRC is a member of the NSW Settlement Partnership (NSP), a consortium of organisations that deliver settlement services in different areas of NSW under the Department of Social Services Settlement Services Program (SSP).
“The NSP provides support to refugees and migrants, so they can become independent and contribute to the Australian community.” SSI
The NSP represents a unique and innovative settlement services delivery model and provides an opportunity for organisations with a long history in service delivery to migrants, refugees and humanitarian entrants, to work collaboratively in achieving the best outcomes for clients.
The 2015-2016 Settlement Support Program has seen another eventful year with and almost doubling of client numbers from 2014-2015 period. Over this financial year SSP has assisted over 910 individual clients through 2856 one-on-one case work session with an additional 9181 enquiries being supported through the front desk. The service team has worked diligently to address the extensive range of issues including housing, physical and mental health issues, financial hardship and access to mainstream services.
To support and address the variety of issues that have been seen through casework, the Liverpool MRC has held numerous information and education sessions. In response to a request from a group of women, the Liverpool MRC partnered with Legal Aid and Green Valley Domestic Violence Service to provide information to increase awareness around domestic violence and the support that is available. Liverpool MRC also partnered with the Australian Electoral commission to deliver information sessions on how to make your vote count in the election.
